About Us
Born on July 4, 1962, Kirk Voclain’s journey into the world of photography began at a remarkably young age. His fascination with capturing moments started when he was just 8 years old. It was a simple yet profound passion that led him to his first camera, which he acquired by collecting box tops from a popular breakfast cereal. This early introduction marked the beginning of a lifelong dedication to the art of photography, ultimately shaping him into the esteemed Houma photographer he is today.
By the age of 15, Kirk had already embarked on his professional career, photographing his first wedding. Although he charged only $100, this early experience laid the foundation for his future success as a Houma photographer. His technical skills, along with a keen business sense, were further honed during his nine-year tenure managing L&N Camera Center in Houma, LA. This role allowed Kirk to delve deep into the technical aspects of photography, marketing, and business operations, shaping him into the versatile professional Houma photographer he would become.
Kirk’s personal life is as inspiring as his professional achievements as a Houma photographer. He married his wife, Tammy, on February 28, 1987. Just a few months later, in April 1987, he launched Kirk Voclain Photography, establishing himself as a leading Houma photographer. His innovative and creative approach quickly set him apart in the local photography scene. His dedication to refining his craft led him to join numerous professional photography organizations in 1988. This commitment to excellence paid off as he began to garner recognition for his unique photographic style as a Houma photographer.
Kirk Voclain’s work as a Houma photographer has earned accolades in national, state, and regional photography competitions around the globe. His exceptional images have been acknowledged by prestigious entities such as Kodak and Fuji, reflecting the superior quality of his work. His contributions to the field are also evident in various professional photography magazines and affiliated publications. Notably, several of Kirk's photographs as a Houma photographer have been featured in the Disney World Kodak EPCOT exhibit, showcasing his talent on an international stage.
In addition to his impressive accolades, Kirk achieved Certified Professional Photographer status in 1990, followed by a Master’s Degree from the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) in July 1994, and a Craftsman’s Degree in 1995. A mere two weeks after receiving his Master’s Degree, Kirk celebrated the birth of his daughter, Scarlett, who has since become an integral part of Kirk Voclain Photography. Scarlett, following in her father’s footsteps, now manages the studio’s maternity, newborn, and toddler photography. Her unique style and commitment to quality reflect the high standards set by Kirk, continuing the legacy of excellence as a Houma photographer.
Kirk Voclain’s commitment to the art of photography extends beyond his own practice as a Houma photographer. He is dedicated to sharing his knowledge and skills with other professional photographers. Observing a trend where many contemporary photographers lack a deep understanding of their equipment, Kirk emphasizes the importance of mastering lighting techniques. His focus on teaching the art of lighting—understanding and manipulating light—is a core aspect of his educational approach as a Houma photographer.
Kirk has been invited to teach his photography techniques to groups across the United States and Canada. His workshops aim to bridge the gap between basic camera use and the nuanced skills required to produce exceptional photographs. If you are interested in learning from Kirk Voclain, the distinguished Houma photographer, and enhancing your photography skills, he encourages you to reach out and discuss your needs.
In summary, Kirk Voclain’s career as a Houma photographer is a testament to his passion, innovation, and dedication to photography. From his early beginnings with a cereal box camera to his current status as a renowned photographer and educator, Kirk’s journey reflects a lifelong commitment to excellence and creativity in the art of capturing moments as a Houma photographer.
